Wolfie was an evolved chimpanzee who resided at the San Bruno Primate Shelter and participated in the Ape Rebellion.

History

Becoming Smarter

While he slept, Wolfie and the other apes were exposed to ALZ-113 by Caesar. As a result, Wolfie gained new heightened intelligence and joined the other apes as Caesar prepared to lead them to freedom.

Ape Rebellion

After Caesar fought back against Dodge Landon and led a rebellion, Wolfie was liberated from his cell and escaped the shelter with his comrades. He accompanied Caesar's group as they moved to free all apes in San Francisco. Wolfie later smashed a camera during the mass-breakout from Gen-Sys Laboratories.

He was present during the assault on the Golden Gate Bridge and followed Koba in scaling the bridge's support struts. He was shot in the back by a police helicopter gunner, losing his grip and frantically trying to hang on before plummeting to his death in the waters below. Seeing him die enraged Maurice, who witnessed this from below the bridge.

Notes

The name of this chimpanzee character was revealed by director Rupert Wyatt in the commentary track of the Rise of the Planet of the Apes blu-ray disc. He was named after Wolfie Smith, the urban guerilla hero of British comedy series Citizen Smith, who was in turn named after Irish revolutionary Theobald Wolfe Tone (who used the pseudonym "Citizen Smith").
