William H. Bassett is an actor who appeared in Conquest of the Planet of the Apes playing the role of Governor Breck's Assistant. Born in Evanston, Illinois (as was Charlton Heston), Bassett was educated at Northwestern University, Illinois. When he finished there he trained his acting technique at the Lincoln Center Training Program, New York City, and soon began his acting career with roles in theater, television, film and commercials.
TV credits include The Wild Wild West (1967), Bewitched (1968), I Dream of Jeannie (1968-1969), Here Come the Brides (1969, with Mark Lenard), The Outcasts (1969), Mannix (1970), Bonanza (1970), The Mod Squad (1972), The Love Boat (1977), Dallas (1979-1982), Quincy M.E. (1979), The Fall Guy (1982), Hart to Hart (1983), Knots Landing (1984), T.J. Hooker (1986), Dynasty (1987), Sabrina, the Teenage Witch (1999), 3rd Rock from the Sun (1999), Dharma & Greg (1999) and Scrubs (2004). Film credits include The Towering Inferno (1974), Return from Witch Mountain (1978), Beyond Witch Mountain (1982), The Karate Kid (1984), Rob Zombie's House of 1000 Corpses (2003) and Demon Hunter (2005). Bassett has also developed a career as a voice actor in cartoons and commercials, including a nine year stint as the voice of the 'Whataburger' fast-food chain adverts and voice roles in Avatar: The Last Airbender (2006-2007) and the Star Wars: The Old Republic video game (2011).
