Biography[]
Background[]
Werner was a survivor of the Simian Flu Pandemic and worked closely with former police officer and colony leader Dreyfus whilst living in the ruins of the once great city of San Francisco.
Dawn of the Planet of the Apes[]
After the restoration of power to San Francisco, Werner attempted to make contact with other survivors. However, when the San Francisco Ape Colony attacked San Francisco under the corrupt ape Koba, Werner was commissioned by Dreyfus to radio for help from other survivors.
Just as Werner received a fraction of a response to his desperate message, some apes broke into the room he was in, forcing him to hide. Werner met up with Dreyfus and Finney, having escaped the apes. He tried to contact the military as the other two placed bombs all over the Ape-infested tower. When Malcolm appeared and threatened the three, Werner stepped away from the radio. When Dreyfus informed Malcolm that the military were already on their way, Werner confirmed this. However, he soon switched to Malcolm's side when Dreyfus threatened to set off the bombs. When Werner frantically asked what he was doing, Dreyfus replied that he was saving the human race, before setting off the bombs. Dreyfus, Werner and Finney all perished in the explosion, while Malcolm managed to take cover.
