Actor Tyler Labine played the role of Robert Franklin in the 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Tyler was born in Brampton, Ontario, Canada, and his brothers Kyle and Cameron are also actors. Among his early credits are Sabrina the Teenage Witch (1996 TV movie), The X-Files (1996), Breaker High (1997-98, alongside Ryan Gosling), Take Me Home: The John Denver Story (2000), Get Carter (2000), Dark Angel (2000–2001), AntiTrust (2001), Canadian Zombie (2002) and The Twilight Zone (2002). He is best known for his roles as Dave Groves in Invasion (2005), as Bert "Sock" Wysocki in Reaper (2007–2009) and as Dale in the comedy-horror film Tucker & Dale vs Evil (2009). He also appeared in Kevin Smith's Zack and Miri Make a Porno (2008), comedy series Sons of Tucson (2010) and comedy series Mad Love (2011, co-starring with Judy Greer).
