Talia was due to marry Miro but was selected to be handed to the apes as a slave. She tends to the astronauts when they are held captive. They persuade Miro to challenge the old ways. He releases them and asks them to take Talia to safety, but they go to find out the secrets of human leader Brun's temple. This results in Brun's death and Miro becoming the new leader.
