Sarah was the daughter of Ellie and one of the many victims of the Simian Flu.
Biography[]
Early Life[]
Prior to the Simian Flu Pandemic, Sarah was born to Ellie, who worked as a nurse for the U.S Center of Disease Control. However, when the pandemic occurred, Sarah succumbed to the illness, while her mother survived due to being genetically immune.
Legacy[]
It was apparent that Sarah's death took a toll on Ellie, although she was glad to have Malcolm and Alexander in her life as a means to cope with her family losses. After hearing about Sarah, Alexander later asked Ellie what her daughter's name was. Seeing this as her chance to bond with him, Ellie replied that her daughter's name was Sarah.
Notes[]
- According to the movie novelization of Dawn, Sarah was only four years old when she died, though it is unclear as to how she contracted the virus.
- According to Ellie's memory of her during the Dawn novelization, Sarah had two favorite books, Fox in Socks and Goodnight moon.
- There appears to be an error in terms of her age in the novel. Ellie remembers that Sarah would have been 12 years old if she were still alive and that she was 4 when she died. It may have been an error on the author's part or Sarah could have survived the first couple of years of the Simian Flu outbreak before she contracted the Simian Flu.
Trivia[]
- It is currently unknown as to who Sarah's father was. It is also unknown if Ellie was in a relationship or married to Sarah's father before Sarah's death. The comic Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Contagion imply that Ellie is a single mother raising Sarah as she never references her husband and she is shown raising Ellie alone from the moment she starts to show symptoms to her death. After her death, Sarah became the posthumous step-daughter of Malcolm, and the step-sister of Alexander.
