Actor Richard Ridings played the role of silverback gorilla Buck in the 2011 movie Rise of the Planet of the Apes. Ridings was born in Henley-on-Thames, UK, and trained as an actor at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School. He has had roles in a number of television series and feature films, among them Clockwise (1986), Fairly Secret Army (1984-86), Who Framed Roger Rabbit (1988), Erik the Viking (1989), The Castle of Adventure (1990), Red Dwarf (1991, 1993), The Ink Thief (1994), Common as Muck (1994-97), The Wind in the Willows (1996), Highlander: The Series (1997), The History of Tom Jones, a Foundling (1997), Randall and Hopkirk (Deceased) (2000) and Fat Friends (2000-04).
As a voice artist, Ridings was the voice of Daddy Pig in the animated children's series Peppa Pig, took the lead role in the BBC Radio 4 sitcom Clement Doesn't Live Here Anymore (2005, 2007), and has provided voiceovers in video games including Quake III, Dungeon Keeper and Dungeon Keeper 2, Heavenly Sword, Fable II, Enslaved: Odyssey to the West and Castlevania: Lords of Shadow.
