Doctor Milo was a character originally featured in the 1971 film Escape from the Planet of the Apes, played by Sal Mineo. At the end of that film, 'Milo' was also the name given to the new-born chimp who will later be known as Caesar. Milo was also the name given to the infant son of Alexander and Coure, thus the great-grandson of Caesar.
In the franchise reboot by Chernin Entertainment, Milo was the name of an ape character in the novel Dawn of the Planet of the Apes: Firestorm, who formed a strong friendship with Koba before the events of Rise of the Planet of the Apes.
