Donkeys are what the human soldiers call the eleven apes who sided with them in the war against Caesar and his army. Many of these "donkeys" defected from Caesar's own army either out of fear of Caesar, preferring the humans or did not want to serve with him due to being loyal to Koba.

Under Colonel McCullough's command, most of the donkeys serve as mere slaves, being used to do their bidding like carrying mortar launchers, ammunition, guns and helping move equipment. If they betray them, they are shot instantly. They are also forced to have "Donkey" tattooed on their back as well.

NotesEdit

  • According to director Matt Reeves, the name "Donkeys" is both a reference to the video game character Donkey Kong and like donkeys, they are used as pack animals.

TriviaEdit

  • A total of nine chimpanzees and two gorillas have served Colonel McCullough as donkeys.
    • At least one chimpanzee and one gorilla, Winter, joined McCullough out of fear for their lives and not because of loyalty to Koba.
