Biff Elliot, born Leon Shalek, was an actor featured in the Planet of the Apes television series. After spending over three years Africa with the 34th Infantry Division during World War II, Elliot was the first actor to play 'Mike Hammer' in the 1953 3D movie I, the Jury. He went on to appear in such films as Between Heaven and Hell, The True Story of Jesse James and The Enemy Below, and played 'Schmitter' in the Star Trek episode "The Devil in the Dark". In 1974, Marvin Paige cast Elliot in the Planet of the Apes TV episodes "Escape from Tomorrow", as Ullman, and "The Cure", as an orangutan.[1]
