Alexander Christian "Alex" Irvine is an American fantasy and science fiction writer, born March 22, 1969 in Ypsilanti, Michigan. From 2005-11, he was an assistant professor of English at the University of Maine. He first gained attention with his original works A Scattering of Jades (2002), the Unintended Consequences collection (2003), One King, One Soldier (2004), The Narrows (2005), the Pictures from an Expedition collection (2006), Buyout (2009) and the novella Mystery Hill (2009).
In addition, Irvine has published works of licensed fiction including Have Robot, Will Travel (2004, based on the works of Asimov), Batman: Inferno (2006), The Ultimates: Against All Enemies (2007, featuring Marvel Comics characters), Iron Man: Virus (2010), Iron Man 2 (2010), Transformers: Exodus (2010), Transformers: Exiles (2011), The Seal of Karga Kul: A Dungeons & Dragons Novel (2010) and The Adventures of Tintin: A Novel (2011), as well as writing a number of comic book series, such as Hellstorm: Son of Satan (2006-2007), Daredevil Noir (2009), The Murder of King Tut (2010), Iron Man (2010-2011) and Dark Sun (2011).
